(Forelines) – On August 7 at around 9 AM, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is opening the M.S. Swaminathan Centenary International Conference at ICAR PUSA in New Delhi. He is going to continue speaking to people regarding the event, India’s PMO said in a statement.
Prof. Swaminathan’s lifelong commitment to ensuring that everyone has access to food is reflected in the conference’s title, “Evergreen Revolution, The Pathway to Biohappiness.”
Scientists, decision-makers, development experts, and other interested parties will get a chance to discuss and deliberate on advancing the “Evergreen Revolution” concepts during the conference.
“Key themes include sustainable management of biodiversity and natural resources; sustainable agriculture for food and nutrition security; strengthening climate resilience by adapting to climate change; utilizing appropriate technologies for sustainable and equitable livelihoods; and engaging youth, women and marginalized communities in developmental discourses,” PMO said.
The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) will establish the M.S. Swaminathan Award for Food and Peace in remembrance of his legacy. This time, the prime minister will also present the first prize to the honoree.
Through scientific research, policy development, grassroots engagement, or local capacity building, individuals from developing nations who have made exceptional contributions to enhancing food security and promoting climate justice, equity, and peace for marginalized and vulnerable communities will be recognized with this international award.
