(Forelines) – On August 11, 2025, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) convened their 8th High-Level Meeting (HLM) in New Delhi, which was another significant event in their long-standing and robust maritime collaboration.
The conversations focused on improving capacity building and technical assistance programs, as well as bolstering collaborative efforts in the areas of maritime search and rescue, marine pollution response, and maritime law enforcement.
Director General SLCG Rear Admiral Y.R. Serasinghe led the Sri Lankan team, while ICG Director General Paramesh Sivamani led the Indian delegation.
Both parties emphasized their commitment to collaborating together closely to address present maritime problems in order to preserve safety, security, and environmental stewardship in the shared marine domain.
The summit reaffirmed ICG and SLCG’s shared commitment to strengthening operational coordination, exchanging best practices, and advancing regional maritime stability via long-term collaboration.
According to the conditions of the 2018 Memorandum of Understanding between the ICG and SLCG, the SLCG delegation will travel to India from August 10–14, 2025, for the HLM and other professional exchanges.
