(Forelines) – On Tuesday, the Chinese embassy in London called Britain to pause “heightening antagonism” in reply to David Lammy’s foreign minister Monday comments about what he described as “dangerous and destabilising” activity in the South China Sea. “We urge the UK to stop heightening antagonism and sowing discord, and stop any words and deeds that undermine regional peace and stability,” stated by a Chinese embassy spokesperson in a written statement. The spokesperson stated the United Kingdom should “respect China’s territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea”.
Israel said on Tuesday it had agreed to hold talks to demarcate its border with Lebanon, adding it would release five Lebanese detainees held by the Israeli military in what it called a “gesture to the Lebanese president”. Militants have taken 35 passengers hostage after attacking a train in southwestern Pakistan, and nearly 350 other passengers are believed to be safe, local police said on Tuesday. The Baloch Liberation Army, a separatist militant group, said they had 182 hostages in total and threatened to kill them if security forces did not leave the area. At least 11 people were died and 30 injured, including five children, in Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukraine’s eastern city of Dobropillia overnight, stated by the Ukrainian Interior Ministry on Saturday. Russian forces striked Dobropillia with ballistic missiles, several rockets, and drones, causing damage to eight multi-storey buildings and 30 vehicles, as per the ministry.
