Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri official visit to Nepal from August 17-18, 2025

(Forelines) – Nepal’s foreign secretary, Amrit Bahadur Rai, extended an invitation to Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to visit Nepal on August 17–18, 2025, India’s External Ministry said in a statement.

The Foreign Secretary visited President Ramchandra Paudel, Nepalese Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, and Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba.

He informed them of the advancements being made in a number of areas of the two nations’ mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation and sent them congratulations from the Indian leadership.

A formal invitation from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit India on dates that work for both parties was given to Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli by the Foreign Secretary.

The two Foreign Secretaries had extensive talks, went over the status of several bilateral projects, and talked about potential prospects for future cooperation, including potential outcomes that might be on PM Oli’s agenda for his next trip to India.

The Foreign Secretary also visited with Nepal’s Chief of Army Staff, General Ashok Raj Sigdel, and presented the Nepali Army with defense supplies and equipment, such as military animals, critical care medical equipment, and Light Strike Vehicles (LSVs).

Both parties expressed pleasure with the tangible advancements made in recent years in a variety of bilateral cooperation sectors, including as energy cooperation, defense and security cooperation, digital connectivity, and physical connection, during the different engagements.

Other high-ranking Nepali political figures were also met by the foreign secretary.

Nepal is given priority as a partner under India’s Neighbourhood First policy.The Foreign Secretary’s visit furthered our bilateral ties and carried on the history of frequent high-level contacts between the two nations.
