“In a significant push towards enhancing India’s indigenous defence capabilities and fostering a robust domestic aerospace industrial ecosystem, Raksha Mantri Shrihas approved the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) Programme Execution Model. Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) is set to execute the programme through Industry partnership,” India’s Defence Ministry posted on X.
“This is an important step towards harnessing the indigenous expertise, capability and capacity to develop the AMCA prototype, which will be a major milestone towards Aatmanirbharta in the aerospace sector,” further added in a post.
The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is a projected single-seat, twin-engine, all-weather, fifth-generation stealth, multirole combat aircraft for the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, The Aeronautical Development organization (ADA), a Ministry of Defense aircraft design organization, is creating the aircraft. By 2035, the aircraft is expected to begin mass production.
The AMCA is designed to carry out a wide range of tasks, such as electronic warfare (EW), air supremacy, ground-strike, and Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD). The Sukhoi Su-30MKI air superiority fighter, which serves as the foundation of the IAF fighter fleet, is to be replaced by it. The AMCA design is optimized for supercruise capability and reduced radar cross section.
