(Forelines) – On July 11, 2025, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the National Cadet Corps Alumni Association’s (NCCAA) inaugural Governing Council meeting in South Block, New Delhi, according to Indian Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

By uniting current and past cadets under one roof and enhancing their involvement in the process of nation-building, the NCCAA, a flagship organization of NCC Alumni, seeks to continue the mission of the biggest uniformed youth organization in the world.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first member of this club. Rajnath Singh, the minister of defense, is the second alumnus mentioned.

“Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh chaired the 1st Governing Council Meeting of the @HQ_DG_NCC Alumni Association (NCCAA) today at South Block,” Ministry of Defence said in a post on X.

“He called NCC alumni “pillars of nation-building” & urged them to spread the spirit of NCC Plus across society,” Ministry of Defence added.

Defence Minister characterized NCC as a platform that offers a vision for the nation’s young in his speech. He described the former NCC cadets as powerful pillars of India who actively push the country’s progress in a variety of disciplines rather than only passively supporting it.

He expressed optimism that NCCAA will provide NCC fresh life and purpose by saying,“We need to include the guidance of our former cadets to accelerate the goal of national development,” Ministry of Defence said.

Rajnath Singh asked the NCC to spread the values and qualities of its cadets to a larger audience in keeping with the spirit of NCC Plus.

“NCC instills these values in the youth who are associated with NCC. Our effort should be to ensure that these values reach those who could not join NCC,” Rajnath Singh further stated, as per the statement.

The defence minister emphasized that NCCAA may actively support nation-building initiatives through initiatives like “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” “Swachhta Abhiyan,” and other community development and social service programs that will significantly affect the vast majority of people.

Applauding NCC for its important role in the youth’s overall development, Rajnath Singh said “In true spirit of its motto ‘Unity & Discipline’, NCC has always been committed to national unity and nation building. It has helped lakhs of youth, including students from remote areas, to become disciplined and motivated,” added in a statement.

“NCC has always been committed to national unity and nation building in the spirit of its motto ‘Unity & Discipline,” said Rajnath Singh, who praised the group’s important contribution to the overall development of the youth. It has aided in the motivation and discipline of thousands of young people, including students from far-flung places.
