India’s EAM S Jaishankar concludes official tour to Qatar, Bahrain

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has wrapped up an official tour to Qatar and Bahrain from December 6-9, according to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs.

S Jaishankar began his trip with a visit to Qatar on December 6, where he participated in the 22nd edition of Doha Forum.

While addressing at a panel on ‘Conflict Resolution in a new era’, the India’s external affairs minister discussed the effects of ongoing conflicts in West Asia and Ukraine on regional shipping and trade, emphasizing the need for more inclusive and collaborative diplomacy, according to the statement.

S Jaishankar held talks with Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and discussed ways on enhancing bilateral relations with Qatar. During the visit, he also met Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani and Minister of State Ahmed Al Sayed, further added in a statement.

India’s External Affairs Minister co-chaired the 4th Meeting of the India-Bahrain High Joint Commission (HJC) with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, during his visit to Bahrain. At the HJC, both sides examined the whole gamut of bilateral relations including trade, investments, healthcare, energy, security, tourism, and people to people ties. They also explored emerging areas of cooperation such as space, education, Fintech, and Technology were also discussed.

S Jaishankar also held talks with the Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, to explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation. India’s External Affairs Minister expressed gratitude to the Bahraini leadership for the welfare of the Indian community in Bahrain, according to a statement.

On December 8, S Jaishankar addressed at the Concluding Plenary Session- “Whither Regional Strategic Cooperation” of the 20th edition of IISS Manama Dialogue, where he outlined India’s views on regional and global issues. His remarks highlighted India’s dedication to strengthing security, stability, and development in the region, according to the statement.

S Jaishankar also spoke to the Indian community in Bahrain and visited the historic Shreenathji Temple in Manama, which is over 200 years old, further added in the statement.
