(Forelines) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sympathy for those killed in a tragic tragedy that occurred during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday.

PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing the required support and assistance and underlined that the country is in solidarity with the impacted families.

“The unfortunate incident during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. Wishing strength to them in this difficult time. Praying for a swift recovery to all those injured,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

n Karur, Tamil Nadu, India, on September 27, 2025, a crowd surge occurred during a political rally organized by actor-politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

At least 36 people, including six children, were killed, and over 40 more were injured. Large crowds had gathered for the campaign rally in Velusamypuram, which is situated on the Karur–Erode route, where the surge occurred.

Medical help has been authorized “on a war footing” by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
