(Forelines) – Alexander Stubb, the president of the Republic of Finland, called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, India’s PMO said in a statement.
President Stubb gave his thoughts on the recent summits in Washington between the leaders of Ukraine, the United States, and Europe to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for an early return to peace and stability as well as a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in cutting-edge areas like quantum technologies, 6G, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and sustainability while also reviewing the status of the bilateral relationship between Finland and India.
President Stubb reaffirmed Finland’s backing for the swift completion of an advantageous free trade agreement between the EU and India.Additionally, he reaffirmed his support for the success of the AI Impact Summit, which India will host in 2026.
President Stubb was invited by the prime minister to come to India as soon as possible. The leaders decided to stay in contact.
“Had a good conversation with President Alexander Stubb. Finland is a valued partner in the EU. Discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in key sectors such as trade, technology and sustainability. Exchanged perspectives on the ongoing efforts for peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
