India’s PM Modi receives a telephone call from French President Macron

(Forelines) – On Thursday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a phone call from the French President Emmanuel Macron, India’s PMO said in a statement.

The leaders discussed the current initiatives aimed at resolving disputes in Ukraine and West Asia peacefully.

President Macron gave his thoughts on the recent meetings in Washington between the leaders of the US, Europe, and Ukraine.He also discussed his thoughts on the Gaza crisis.

PM Modi reaffirmed India’s steadfast support for early peace and stability restoration as well as nonviolent conflict a settlement.

The presidents also discussed the status of the bilateral cooperation agenda, which covers commerce, defense, technology, energy, and civil nuclear cooperation. They underlined their shared commitment to fortify the India-France Strategic Partnership and appropriately commemorate 2026 as the “Year of Innovation.”

Additionally, President Macron expressed support for India and the EU to finalize their free trade agreement as soon as possible.

The leaders decided to stay in contact.

“Had a very good conversation with my friend President Macron. Exchanged views on efforts for peaceful resolution of conflicts in Ukraine and in West Asia. Reaffirmed our commitment to further strengthen the India-France strategic partnership,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

“Following up on the AI Action Summit held in Paris last February, we are working towards the success of the AI Impact Summit to be held in New Delhi in 2026. For more effective multilateralism, we agreed to work closely together in preparation for the French presidency of the G7 and the Indian presidency of the BRICS in 2026,” French President Macron said in a post on X.
