Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appointed Major General David Zini as the new head of the domestic intelligence service Shin Bet, according to the Prime Minister office in a statement on Thursday.
Ronen Bar,the chief of Shin Bet, declared his stepping down in April, mentioning he would resigned on June 15, six weeks following Benjamin Netanyahu attempted to oust him.
The Shin Bet, which holds counter-terrorism investigations, has been at the epicenter political conflict pitting Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition government opposed a range of critics varying from members of the defence establishment to families of hostages in Gaza. (Forelines)
