After the devastating Kurrum terror attack in Pakistan ,Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, the central chairman of the Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen Pakistan (MWM), declared three days of national mourning.

The protests and rallies took place on Friday throughout the Sindh province and other major cities across Pakistan to condem the assault on a convoy of passenger vehicle in Lower Kurrum, which led to the deaths of atleast 42 individuals.(DAWN)

This violence is the latest in a series of attacks in Kurram, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, occurring just days after another deadly attack on a convoy in the same area.

The MWM organized protest rallies and demonstrations in Karachi, Hydrabad and Sukkur and their leaders strongly condemned the Parachinar tragedy.

Speakers at these rallies mourned the loss of lives in the terrorist attack on passenger buses traveling from Parachinar to Peshawar, calling it a national tragedy. Allama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi stated that the attacks, which occurred despite the presence of security forces, were part of a well-orchestrated conspiracy.

He noted that this was not the first terrorist incident in Parachinar, highlighting the ongoing killing of innocent people in Kurram Agency by ISIS, the Taliban, and internal Khawarij militants. He criticized the national security institutions for their incompetence in preventing such attacks.

At Jamia Masjid Noor Iman, Allama Baqir Abbas Zaidi urged the federal government to recognize the martyrdom of innocent citizens as a national tragedy and declare a national day of mourning. He called for the swift recovery of the missing passengers and the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack.

Jamaat-i-Islami leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman suggested forming a grand jirga in Parachinar to address sectarian tensions, offering his party’s assistance. Speaking at a press conference at Idara Noor-i-Haq, he described the tragedy as part of a deliberate conspiracy to intensify societal divisions.

He emphasized that the issue was not a Shia-Sunni conflict but an attempt by certain forces to destabilize society and the country. He criticized the government and law enforcement agencies for their failure to prevent the attack and blamed former president General Pervez Musharraf and the so-called war on terrorism for the current situation.

He stated that the tribes, once seen as a support for Pakistan’s army, suffered due to Musharraf’s policies, which led to terrorism, destruction, loss of lives and property, and long-term negative consequences.
