(Forelines) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received “The Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross,” Brazil’s highest national honor, today from Brazil’s President H.E. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, India’s PMO said in a statement.

The Prime Minister Modi sent his sincere appreciation to the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva , the Government, and the Brazilian people for the prestigious honor. As he accepted the prize, he said it was a tribute to India’s 1.4 billion people and the long-standing relationship between Brazil and India. He added that President Lula was the driving force behind the India-Brazil Strategic Partnership and that the award was a testament to his tireless efforts to advance the two countries’ relationship.

The prime minister emphasized that the honor will encourage the citizens of the two nations to strengthen their cordial and friendly relationship.

“I’m honoured to have been conferred ‘The Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross.’ Gratitude to President Lula, the Government and the people of Brazil.
