(Forelines) – Ihor Terekhov, the mayor of Kharkiv, Ukraine, stated on Saturday that Russia killed at least four people and injured 60, including a one-and-a-half-month-old infant, during an overnight strike using drones, missiles, and guided bombs, according to Reuters report.
Kharkiv, one of the biggest cities in Ukraine, lies only a few dozen kilometers from the Russian border and has been continuously shelled by Russia for more than three years, as per the report.
“Kharkiv is currently experiencing the most powerful attack since the start of the full-scale war,” Ihor Terekhov stated on the Telegram messenger early on Saturday, quoted by Reuters.
He claimed that Russian military were using guided aircraft bombs, drones, and missiles to strike the city at the same time as dozens of explosions could be heard throughout the night, reported by Reuters.
Attacks occurred on infrastructure, educational institutions, and private residential structures with several stories, according to Terekhov, cited by Reuters.
Images from Reuters and local officials showed partially demolished and burned cars and homes, as well as rescuers removing debris and escorting injured people to safety.
Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of Kharkiv, stated that 40 drones, one missile, and four explosives assaulted one of the city’s civilian industrial sites, resulting in a fire. He also mentioned that there might still be persons beneath the debris.
According to the Ukrainian military, quoted by Reuters, Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with 206 drones, two ballistic missiles, and seven more missiles.
In response to the Ukrainian military’s use of electronic warfare to reroute the drones, it stated that its air defense troops shot down 87 drones and lost another 80, either because they were drone simulators without warheads, as per Reuters.
Ten sites were struck, as per Reuters, citing military.
