(Forelines) – On June 23–24, 2025, the India-Nepal Bilateral Consultative Group on Security Issues (INBCGSI) convened its 16th meeting in Pune, India, according to the Ministry of External affairs said in a statement.
Mr. Gahendra Rajbhandari, Joint Secretary (South Asia), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Nepal, headed the Nepali delegation, while Shri Munu Mahawar, Additional Secretary (North), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, led the Indian mission.
The delegations included representatives from the Indian Army’s and Nepali Army’s Directorates, as well as representatives from the respective Foreign and Defense Ministries.
“Both sides held productive discussions on a wide range of issues relating to security and defence cooperation such as equipment supplies, training, joint military exercises, disaster relief operations and military exchanges. In addition, the delegations also visited key public and private defence sector manufacturing facilities to explore possibilities for mutually beneficial collaboration,” MEA said in a statement.
The INBCGSI, was created in 2003 and serves as the overarching institutional framework for coordinating bilateral security and defense cooperation between India and Nepal.
