(Forelines) – On Saturday, two individuals believed to be linked to government-backed militias, locally referred to as “Death Squads,” were killed, and three others injured in separate incidents in Balochistan‘s Kech and Kohlu districts in Pakistan, The Balochistan Post reported.
In the first incident, unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle attacked Jameel, the son of Malik Dadullah, in the Kohad area of Tump Tehsil, Kech. Another person, Meraj Arif, was injured and taken to Turbat Civil Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. According to local sources, the victims were reportedly affiliated with a government-backed militant group, The Balochistan Post reported.
In Kohlu, gunmen launched an attack on the camp of Mohabbat Khan Marri, a government-backed figure, in the Londo area of Noy Shim. Three people were injured in the assault, during which the attackers set the camp on fire and stole weapons before escaping, reported by The Balochistan Post.
According to The Balochistan Post, In a seperate incident, armed men ambushed three vehicles carrying minerals in the Badal Karez Cross area of Nushki district. One vehicle was engulfed in flames, while the other two were heavily damaged by gunfire.
These attacks are frequently linked to Baloch pro-independence armed groups, who allege they target “death squad” members and vehicles involved in what they call the “plundering” of Baloch resources. While no group has taken responsibility for the recent incidents, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has previously issued threats against those involved in mineral extraction, vowing to destroy such vehicles.
