(Forelines) – The Trump authority on Tuesday criticised assault by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on residents in North Darfur and urged for parties in the nation’s civil war to be held responsible for violations of international humanitarian law, reported by Reuters.
“We are deeply alarmed by reports the RSF has deliberately targeted civilians and humanitarian actors in Zamzam and Abu Shouk,” Tammy Bruce, U.S. State Department spokesperson said to reporters, mentioning to double camps in the area where hundreds of thousands of civilian have been exlied in current days, as per Reuters, quoting U.N. report.
“The belligerents must uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law and must be held accountable,” Tammy Bruce stated.
The conflict in Sudan broke out in April 2023, triggered by a power fight between the military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), destroying hopes for a transition to people rule.
The attacking parties should drop their guns and talk a sustainable peace, stated by Tammy Bruce, who refused to say if the United States was undertaking diplomacy toward a resolution.
Tammy Bruce further rejected to say whether the Trump authority accepted with a finding by the State Department under United States former President Joe Biden that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and affiliated militias have performed genocide in the war.
