Russia’s soldiers have driven out Ukraine’s forces from roughly all of Moscow’s western Kursk region, Valery Gerasimov, Russia’s military chief stated on Saturday, according to Reuters.

“The bulk of the area where the invasion took place has now been cleared,” Valery Gerasimov said President Vladimir Putin in a televised meeting.

“It’s 1,260 square km, 99.5%.”

According to Reuters, Moscow has been trying to displace Ukraine’s forces from Kursk since August previous year after Kyiv’s soldiers initiated a surprise invasion that embarrassed Vladimir Putin and which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy wished would provide him a negotiating chip in any future discussions to end the conflict.

Valery Gerasimov modified Vladimir Putin on the battleground developments, which Reuters not seperately identified, presently before the Kremlin chief declared a unilateral Easter truce in Ukraine.

Valery Gerasimov stated Ukraine was carrying onto just 3 square km of Kursk nearby the villages of Oleshnya and Gornal, which exist just on the boundary, as per Reuters.

As per Reuters, citing the Defence Ministry report on Saturday that Moscow had reoccupied Oleshnya from Ukraine.

In current weeks Moscow has recaptured a swath of region inside Kursk and has started to push forward into Ukraine’s neighbouring Sumy area.

During the same time, Kyiv has Further made a new push into Belgorod region of Russia, south of Kursk. Valery Gerasimov Said Russia’s President Putin that soldiers were victoriously overcoming Ukrainian strikes there.
