US President Trump reiterates that he spoke with China’s President Xi, offers no details

On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated he had spoken with Xi Jinping, Chinese President several times but did not say when the two leaders previous discussed or what subjects they talked.

Questioned whether he has spoken with Xi Jinping from effecting his tariff plan, Donald Trump said reporters: “I don’t want to comment on that, but I’ve spoken to him numerous times.”

Donald Trump’s replies came shortly following TIME magazine published an interview that cited the Republican president as mentioning that China’s Xi Jinping had called him.

When questioned to explain on that statement, Donald Trump stated he would give more informations “at the appropriate time.”

While TIME interview, carried out on Tuesday, President Trump stated his government is talking with Beijing to strike a tariff agreement. China on Friday again rejected that any Washington-Beijing trade discussions were going on.

As Trump leave the White House to attend funeral of Pope Francis in Rome, President Trump further said to reporters that his oficial is very near to a tariffs agreement with Japan.

“Trade deals are going very well,” Trump said.
