(Forelines) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated on Sunday that the Russia’s military is making a pretence of an Easter truce announced by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, ongoing overnight efforts to impose front-line setbacks on Kyiv, as per Reuters.
“In general, as of Easter morning, we can say that the Russian army is trying to create a general impression of a ceasefire, but in some places it does not abandon individual attempts to advance and inflict losses on Ukraine,” Volodymyr Zelenskiy wrote in a post on social media.
According to Reuters, Vladimir Putin, hours prior heading to an Orthodox Easter service late on Saturday, declared the unexpected one-day truce, commanding his forces to “stop all military activity” with the front line in the three-year-old conflict.
The expression followed a United States proclamation that it might discontinue peace talks within days expect if Russia and Ukraine showed they were significant about talking.
Battling was to pause from 6 p.m. Russia time (1500 GMT) on Saturday till midnight on Sunday night, Vladimir Putin stated quoted by Reuters.
But Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated there had been hundreds of examples of bombardment on Saturday evening. Prior on Sunday, Ukraine’s forces claimed 59 examples of bombarding and five attack tries along the front line, Zelenskiy stated.
“Russia must fully comply with the conditions of silence,” stated by Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
Zelenskiy, reaffirmed that Ukraine was willing to expand the truce for 30 days but stated that if Moscow held fighting on Sunday, so would Kyiv.
“Ukraine will continue to act in a mirror manner,” Zelenskiy stated, as per Reuters.
