U.S. intelligence agency warns Beijing is trying to recruit government employees

(Forelines) -On Tuesday, the United States warned that Chinese intelligence was using fraudulent techniques to target present and previous United States government employees for recruitment.

The warning comes from the National Counterintelligence and Security Center during mass federal firings governed by Elon Musk‘s Department of Government of Efficiency.

“Foreign intelligence entities, particularly those in China, are targeting current and former U.S. government (USG) employees for recruitment by posing as consulting firms, corporate headhunters, think tanks, and other entities on social and professional networking sites,” the National Counterintelligence and Security Center stated in a bulletin.

The center reported fraudulent online job offers and other deceptive tactics have become more advanced in targeting individuals with United States government backgrounds looking for a new jobs. It issued a warning to both present and previous federal employees of such tactics.

The center further added that individuals granted security clearance were required to protect classified information even following leaving federal employment.

On Wednesday, the Chinese foreign ministry stated it had not familier with the situation and alleged the United States of espionage aganist China.

Lin Jian, Ministry spokesperson urged the United States acts “irresponsible practices” and called it was involving in “global espionage without any disguise”.
