(Forelines) – On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged allies to fulfil their pledges to supply Ukraine with weapons, including those needed to counter Russian air attacks, reported by Reuters.
Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that in the past week, Russian forces had carried out hundreds of strikes on Ukraine and deploying nearly 700 aerial bombs and over 600 attack drones were used, as per Reuters.
Ukrainian air defences intercepted 60 of the 94 drones carried out by Russia overnight, according to the air force Sunday, cited by Reuters. The air force further stated that 34 drones were “lost” due to Ukraine’s electronic warfare efforts to redirect the Russian drones.
According to Zelenskiy on the Telegram messaging app, “Every week, the Russian war continues only because the Russian army retains its ability to terrorise Ukraine and exploit its superiority in the sky.”
Zelenskiy further urged on Ukraine’s allies to honour the agreements that have already been made.
“The decisions made at the NATO summit in Washington, as well as those adopted during the Ramstein meetings regarding air defences for Ukraine, have still not been fully implemented,” Volodymyr Zelenskiy added.
This week, Ukraine’s leader stated that he had discussed with partners and the United States the potential for Ukraine to receive licenses to produce air defense systems and missiles.
