(Forelines) – In a speech to the Israeli parliament on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States is ready to negotiate with Iran when Tehran is ready, according to Reuters report.

Prior to a 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel in June, in which Washington intervened by attacking strategic Iranian nuclear sites, Tehran and Washington engaged in five rounds of nuclear negotiations, as per the report.

The question of uranium enrichment on Iranian soil, which Tehran has refused, is one of the main obstacles to the discussions. Western nations want to eliminate it completely to reduce the possibility of weaponization, Reuters said.

“We are ready when you are and it will be the best decision that Iran has ever made, and it’s going to happen,” accoerding to Reuters, citing Trump, referring to an agreement with Iran.

“The hand of friendship and cooperation is open. I’m telling you, they (Iran) want to make a deal… it would be great if we could make a deal,” Donald Trump said, the Israeli Knesset, quoted by Reuters.

Iran’s foreign minister said Tehran has not been given any beginning points for negotiations, while welcoming a possible “fair and balanced” U.S. approach on its nuclear program on Saturday, Reuters reported.

“If we receive a reasonable, balanced, and fair proposal from the Americans for negotiations, we will certainly consider it,” Tehran and Washington have been communicating through intermediaries, Abbas Araqchi said, cited by Reuters on Saturday on state television.

Prior to his scheduled journey to Egypt for a meeting aimed at creating the circumstances for a sustainable peace in Gaza, Trump was greeted in Israel on Monday and spoke to the Knesset, reported by Reuters.

“There’s nothing that would do more good for this part of the world than for Iran’s leaders to renounce terrorists…and finally recognise Israel’s right to existence,” as per Reuters, citing U.S. President Trump.

As per the report, on Saturday, however, Araqchi called the idea that Iran could normalize relations with Israel “wishful thinking.”

“Iran will never recognise an occupying regime that has committed genocide and killed children,” he stated, Reuters quoted

Araqchi posted on X, cited by Reuters on Monday, declining an offer from Egypt to join the summit.: “While favouring diplomatic engagement, neither President Pezeshkian nor I can engage with counterparts who have attacked the Iranian people and continue to threaten and sanction us.”
