Six attacks targeted Yemen’s Hodeidah port, according to the Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV report on Monday, blaming the attacks on Israel and the U.S. a day following the Iran-backed Houthis fired a missile that hit close to main airport of Israel.
There was no instant official comment from Israel or the United States Axios reporter Barak Ravid quoted a senior United States official as mentioning Israel had striked Yemen in cooperation with U.S.
Israel’s media consisting of channel 12 further quoted a senior Israel’s official who they stated affirmed Israel was striking Yemen.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday pleged to response for the strike by the Houthi Rebels, who have been launching attacks on Israel and at shipping in the Red Sea in what they claim its an act of solidarity with the Palestinians.
Most strikes from Yemen have been intercepted by Israeli missile defence systems, though a drone attack struck Tel Aviv previous year. Sunday’s missile was the initial observed to have escaped being intercepted of a round of missiles launched since March. (Forelines)
