US President Trump refutes China’s claim of no trade talks

U.S. President Donald Trump claims on Thursday that trade discussions between the United States and Beijing are underway, opposing Chinese actions that no talks have taken place to ease the continuing trade conflict, according to Reuters.

“They had a meeting this morning,” President Trump said reporters, refusing to say to whom he was mentioning. “It doesn’t matter who ‘they’ is. We may reveal it later, but they had meetings this morning, and we’ve been meeting with China,” as per Reuters.

According to Reuters, on Thursday, Beijing stated it had not conducted trade discussions with United States even though repeated replies from the United States government proposing there had been involvement.

“China and the United States have not conducted consultations or negotiations on tariffs, let alone reached an agreement,” Guo Jiakun, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said to reporters at a news addressing, urging reports of such detail “false news,” reported by Reuters.
